I am the owner of TAKEFUJI, an online boutique specialising in traditional Japanese crafts, and the co-founder and designer of TAKEFUJI LAWLER, a landscape design practice.
As a dedicated instructor of the Urasenke school of Japanese tea ceremony (Chado), one of Japan’s oldest and largest tea traditions, I also conducts workshops introducing the art and spirit of Chado to Australian audiences.
Across my work in traditional crafts, landscape design and tea ceremony, I am passionate about sharing the richness of Japanese culture and the essence of Japanese aesthetics with people in Australia.

TAKEFUJI
TAKEFUJI was established as an online boutique in 2019, driven by Eriko’s passion for sharing the beauty of traditional Japanese crafts and the exceptional craftsmanship behind them with Australian audiences. The collection includes Onta-yaki, a pottery tradition with a history spanning over 400 years, as well as bamboo crafts, cast-metal objects and incense. Each piece honours Japanese traditions while complementing contemporary lifestyles.
While the online boutique is the heart of TAKEFUJI, Eriko also participates in Japanese cultural events and markets held in Adelaide, creating opportunities for people to discover and experience the richness of Japanese craftsmanship.
Launched in 2026, TAKEFUJI LAWLER is a landscape design practice that explores how Japanese aesthetics can be expressed within the unique natural environment of Australia. Working alongside her husband Richard, whose background is in architectural design, TAKEFUJI LAWLER aims to create gardens that are not confined to the traditional Japanese garden style, but instead draw on the essence of Japanese aesthetics to create spaces that respond to both people and nature.

🤝 Jennifer Lawther
Fire-service volunteer Jennifer Lawther's work at neighbouring Callala Beach belongs to the wider Callala district's community story. When brigade membership fell in the early 2000s, she went door to door recruiting volunteers and helped secure its future. She also worked to improve opportunities for women within the Rural Fire Service. The Australian Fire Service Medal, awarded in 2022, recognised leadership that combined emergency service with the patient local work of keeping a volunteer brigade functioning.
